AFRiTEACH Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) foster a vibrant and sustainable culture of peer-to-peer learning and collaboration among African educators and school leaders. By building both localized and cross-regional networks, we aim to raise education standards across Africa and drive meaningful school improvement.

Types of Communities of Practice (CoP)

School-Based CoPs
Communities established within a school to address school-specific priorities.
Focus: Instructional strategies, inclusive education, and student well-being.
Approach:
- Designated, trained facilitators
- AFRiTEACH guidance and mentorship
- Alignment with school improvement plans

Multi-School CoPs
Collaborative communities formed across multiple schools to tackle shared challenges and promote collective improvement.
Focus: Professional collaboration, best practice exchange, and systemic solutions.
Approach:
Cross-school trained facilitators
- AFRiTEACH coordination and mentorship
- Alignment with regional, or network-wide goals
- Regular retreats and workshops
- Shared resources and co-developed initiatives
Scaling Across Africa
To ensure sustainable growth and localized impact, we focus on
Regional Hubs
Establish AFRiTEACH regional hubs (e.g., West, East, Southern, and North Africa) to coordinate local CoPs and build contextually relevant networks
Facilitator Training
Train and certify local CoP facilitators as “AFRiTEACH CoP Champions” to ensure sustainability and local ownership.
Blended Approach
Adopt hybrid formats—virtual communities supported by periodic face-to-face workshops and annual gatherings.
Leverage Technology
Deploy AFRiTEACH’s online community platform and resource repository to connect schools across regions, distances, and languages.
Partnerships
Collaborate with Ministries of Education, private sector partners, and NGOs to promote CoPs and integrate them into broader school improvement initiatives.
